Valley To The Sea Half Marathon & 5K/10K-Maui

DUE TO HAZARDOUS WEATHER FORCASTED

Dear Runners & Walkers,

It saddens me to say that due to the heavy rain, thunderstorms, and flooding that is being forecasted for both Thursday, Friday, Saturday and possibly into Sunday. Because we are using special parks, the State Parks Department, County Parks Department, NOAA and the DLNR have deemed it hazardous conditions to hold the Valley To The Sea Half Marathon & 5k/10k, this weekend on March 13th/14th.

Although I know many will be disappointed, and or upset, about this decision, but please understand that your safety is a huge priority and those who have entered this event are my concern and I do not want anyone to get hurt. I want all those who have entered, to be in a fun and safe environment.

With this said, here is what we will do, and please email me what you prefer ASAP:

**All those who have entered this years event will get their entry deferred to next years event, or another event Runners Paradise holds. Those that are on Island, now, can get their goodie bag and shirt. I will pick a time and place for you to pick items up. So please look for an email from Active.com, and or look at the runnersparadiseinc.com site on the homepage. Also, I will post it here. If not on island, we can send to you. Just send address to Rudedog7@me.com.

**If you want to do this event virtually, you can time yourself and send me your time/GPS and a cool pic with it, where you did your run. I will send your shirt, goodie bag and medal to you. Please do your Virtual within the next 30 days. Send info to Rudedog7@me.com.

In my years of directing events, this is only the 3rd time we had to cancel an event. I hate cancelling, especially after the hard work I and others have put into organizing it. I takes a lot of time and effort and sometimes stress. But I love doing it because it brings you all joy and a sense accomplishment to have completed it. All the smiles to have completed your goal and to get a medal. I love it!!!!

But as stated before, your safety is the most important thing, 100%. I hope all will understand and I hope to see your smiling faces soon, crossing that finish line, with a nice medal.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 17 years of this fun and beautiful event. We have had so many people from all over the country and world come out and be a part of something fun and local. This year, 2026, will be another great event you don’t want to miss. We want to make this event the most memorable and exciting. Great new medals, great custom made shirts, swag and age division awards and some new things. These events don’t last forever, so come out and be a part of a fun and local event.

From the moment the gun goes off at the Iao Valley Needle, in Wailuku, you know you are in paradise, with beautiful green steep mountains on either side and the smell of fresh air coming through the valley and birds singing in the background. When the event starts, prepare yourself for ocean views, just feet away, and whales breaching from afar as you get closer and closer to the finish line. A sight to behold during whale season.

The Valley To the Sea Half Marathon 5K/10K has spectacular views through the most beautiful setting in the world. It’s an entire event filled with competition and fun starting with the Half Marathon, 10k and 5k and ending when you cross the finish line at Humpback Whale Sanctuary in Kihei . All courses are beautiful with an ocean view to die for. If that doesn’t motivate you to be in this event nothing will.

Packet Pick-up-Friday the 13th @ 3:00pm-5pm @ Humpback Whale Sanctuary in Kihei (Get number, shirt, other goodies and info) THIS IS RECOMMENDED, TO CUT DOWN ON RACE DAY CHAOS AT BOTH START LINES. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY.

Shuttle to Half Marathon-Pick up at 5:30am @ Humpback Whale Sanctuary in Kihei. No parking at Half Marathon Start line. Only drop off. If wanting to take the shuttle, you must email us your names.

Parking at Finish-NONE AT THE FINISH LINE, NONE AT HALF MARATHON START. We do urge being dropped off by friends or family members, and or ride sharing. Parking at the Humpback Whale Sanctuary in Kihei is limited and only for volunteers. If parking, you must park on the side streets or get dropped off.
